Whatever shall be the third thing?

May 27, 2009 at 7:54 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , )

Okay, so I posted about the melty fuse yesterday.  Turns out, my car is still sitting at my friend’s place…Dead.  As an effing doornail.  Oh yes, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead.  Normally, not so much of an issue, but my job is across the city.

Fantastic

Dad’s solution, quit your job and get a new one you can walk to.  I live on 33rd Street.  Do you really want me walking home from a job on 33rd at night?  By myself?  All alone!?!  Probably not.

Screw you.  Stupid idea.

There’s a wrecker that has the same car as mine so we might be able to get the fuse box off it.  Friend is going to check it out on Saturday.

Awesome

I’m still incredibly broke.  I maxed out my Visa card buying a sheet of bus tickets so I can get to work on the weekend.

Fuck

I have good friends at school who are willing to drive me to work after classes through the week.

Yay

My boy needs to get his truck back so he can pick me up from work through the week.

*grumble*

My dog was hit by a car on Sunday.  My family neglected to mention this to me until I called Mother to wish her a happy birthday this morning.  Today is Wednesday.  I talked to Mother, Father AND Brother yesterday.

What the hell?

His pelvis was broken and they had to put them down.  Had I not called, how long do you think it would have been before they told me?  Thanks guys.  You’ve totally added to my great day!

My family sucks

I need a cuddle :(

What, me? Productive?

May 26, 2009 at 2:12 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , )

Drink:  french vanilla coffee with vanilla toffee caramel creamer

Soundtrack:  Rufus Wainwright

Yep, that’s right.  This girl has had a remarkably productive day!  Go figure.  Well, except for the school part.  School took approximately 10 minutes this morning, before out came Pygmy and off went the brain.  Which was marvelous, what with finding things to do that are more important than sleep. *cough*boy*cough*  Sorry, couldn’t help myself.  He’s all sick and stuff.  :(

After school, I spent a remarkable 20 minutes in a walk-in clinic.  Not telling which one, the fast clinic is my secret!!!!  Ahahah!  Take that.  Then I dropped off the magical paper that will get me drugs and came home.  Upon coming home, I popped the hood of my car as strange lights came on while on my way to school.  Well, turns out a fuse is entirely toasted and actually somehow managed to melt its fuse box too.  So, off to a friend’s after work to see what can be done about this.  I am just impressed with myself that I discovered the source of the problem all on my little lonesome.  :)   Go me!

Now I’m making chicken breast to put into a massive Greek salad.  I am excited.  It shall be large enough to choke a rather large equine.  :)    Woot!  And I have to work today.  Boo.  :(   This week shall be horrible for work.  I hate work.  Blech.  Alas, off to do something far less productive than this.  And yes, that is possible.

omnomnomnom…mmmmm…salad

Colour-Coded Goodness

May 21, 2009 at 5:52 pm (Uncategorized)

Drink:  a litre of English Toffee Latte (wooo!!!!)

So, done the bookkeeping.  No idea if it’s right or not, and I don’t really care at the moment.

I have also completed the stash organizing.  I have much more room now (except for maybe in the closet when it all gets put away!)  And I can certainly see what colours I have plenty of, and which I need more of.  I officially need to quit buying blue, red, pink, black, white and brown yarn.  The baby yarn bin is awfully full as well.  Purple is getting there too.  But I decidedly need much more yellow, green and orange yarn.  Happy day!

I have also drank a copious amount of espresso and an entire litre of milk.  Praise the Powers That Be for science and the possibility of lactose free milk!!!  I can drink a whole litre without regrets!!  Yay!!  And Praise the Powers That Be for the wonderful boy who told me about such lovely lactose free milk!  Yay!!

Anyway, enjoy the rainbow!

Is it Friday yet?

May 21, 2009 at 11:48 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , )

Drink of the day:  English Toffee Iced Latte (if I get my butt up and  make espresso, that is)

Soundtrack of the day:  bookkeeping text flying across the room/screaming neighbour banshee children

Why is it that short weeks seem to take the longest to finally pass?  Only three days of class this week will go on forever.  Alas, such is life I suppose.

The weekend of awesome concluded marvelously.  I went home and visited with my Mum and worked on a copious amount of granny squares for my blanket.  I have come up with a lovely pattern for it that only requires me to make 3 more large squares (for a grand total of 12) and 48 little ones.  Why do I do this to myself?  I don’t know.  Oh well, it will be pretty.  I also may have pawned The Itchy Scarf V. 2.0 off on the boy.  I thought he would like the colours.  ^_^  Oh!  I also was the happy recipient of a very (and I mean very) large bag of free yarn on Sunday.  Yay!  It shall keep me in projects for a while.  I had to go buy more bins.  Thus, my Thursday project is organizing yarn.  After I finish my bookkeeping homework.  Yes, bookkeeping first, yarn second, crochet third.  Sounds like a lovely afternoon.  Currently, my yarn is all organized by weight.  This however, worked when I only had three bins full.  However, the lids for these bins seem to no longer want to close, so I have decided to organize all yarn by colour instead!  Yay!  I have eight bins which translates into:  Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Green, Purple, Black and White and Brown and Neurtal, and Baby.  Or, perhaps one bin for black and white and one for brown and neutral and baby yarn just goes in its respective colours.  We shall see.  I like the idea of an entire bin of baby yarn.  Squeeee!!

Also, school is ridiculous!  Oh, that reminds me, I must write a note to someone.  But alas, I need to rotate my french fries and write said note.  Then stop procrastinating on the bookkeeping so that I may play with yarn.  ^_^

Oh, boy was a trifle disturbed at large bag of yarn.  I told him not to look in the closet.  He laughed at me.  According to him, I am a yarn fetishist.  Oh well, I’m sure he won’t complain about free hand knit garb.  That’s right, stop making fun of me you, or you won’t get any knits!

Half-Way Report

May 17, 2009 at 12:52 pm (Uncategorized)

So, with the weekend nearly half finished, I thought I would stop by and update all of you (ha, the like 1 person who actually reads this) on how stuff is going.

Bad Jazz.  Oh wow.  Was it ever amazing!  But really how can you go wrong with a satirical play about a play about oral sex?  Yep, awesome to the max.  There honestly aren’t enough good things I can say about it!  The casting was brilliant, and it had to be to pull of this sort of production.  The  music was great, it was just awesome.  Yay!

Drinks went marvelously!  A newly engaged couple of friends came as well as the sister.  Got two thumbs up from the friends, and sister still claims to be on the fence.  But hey, how much does her opinion of my new boy really matter?  Ha ha.  She just thinks she’s so important.  Although, she did buy pizza for supper last night….

Today, returned the boy, much later than planned as alarms were not set properly.  “Oops.”  And picked up the groceries missed yesterday (can’t make Greek salad without feta), and need to shower and head out to SKC.  Yay!  Then I have to work.  Not so yay, but meh.

Off to shower and find some knitting.  Maybe I shall take my granny square blanket project.  Yes, I think I shall.  ^_^

Happy dance in your underpants today, it’ll be worth it.  ~L

Nurrrr……

May 15, 2009 at 1:15 pm (Uncategorized)

Likely I think this may be a popular title for many a posting.  Well, I am delighted to see that someone actually found my blog through my facebook.  That’s pretty impressive.  ^_^

So, I am so thoroughly glad that today is finally Friday.  As usual, nothing what so ever was accomplished at school this week.  I managed to put off all sorts of work due to the “instructor” missing about half the week as well as having a bookkeeping midterm today.  As a “class” we opted to write the midterm in the morning rather than the afternoon, seriously cutting off my last minute study time.  I’m sorry, precious few hours with the boy are vastly more important than studying for bookkeeping, midterm or not.

Because today is wonderfully, and mercifully, payday, I trucked off to McNally to buy some alphabetical antedote to all the numbers and formula and general junk from bookkeeping floating around my mind.  And also because I discovered earlier this week, when I was broke, that Chuck Palahniuk has a new novel out.  So plenty of money and three new books and a notebook later, I shall have a happy afternoon.

It’s finally the long weekend and man, am I amped.  I actually, somehow by the Grace of the Powers That Be, managed to have two whole days off work and school!  I am going for dinner and seeing Bad Jazz tonight with a very dear and much missed friend, making some boy introductions over drinks on Saturday, making an awesome breakfast on Sunday, and perhaps going knitting, we shall see, and then have Monday and Tuesday entirely off everything.  An old co-worker from current job is in town from BC and we are going for coffee one of those days.  It shall be nicce to have some time to myself that is more than a few hours snatched here and there.  Life permitting, I shall also do some knitting or crochetting, or perhaps both.  Yay me.

Hope all of you have a fantastic weekend and expect a review of Bad Jazz as soon as I remember.

Happy Pants On

May 7, 2009 at 5:25 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , )

Today, I most certainly have my happy pants on.  Literal and figurative.  I wore my black shorts today and they make me happy.  ^_^

The figurative happy pants are two fold.  One, my landlord *finally* got back to me last night and I am allowed to get a kitty!  Yay!  We are ignoring the point of fact that I am allergic because kitties are awesome and make me happy.  So, today I ventured to Big Box Hell to retrieve some kitty supplies.  I am quite thrilled with my purchases including a litterbox set that has a lid and came with a scooper, a double dish, and litterbox liners. Extra points to whoever invented litterbox liners.  Good on ya.  I bought some litterbox deoderizer, and some toys and a scratching thingy.  It has a clump of feathers on a spring.  There’s a good chance I will play with it more than the kitty.  ^_^   I also purchased a whole set of little toys.  And with the toys is a cat tunnel!!  Oh yes, a cat tunnel.  Kitty better appreciate this.  It’s zebra print and pretty wicked.  Oh, I bought a brush too.  So, now I’m pretty well set and ready for kitty, other than litter and food and treats and stuff.  Now I just have to wait for it (hopefully her) to be born…and weaned and all that good stuff.  Yes, that’s right, my kitty hasn’t even been born yet.  Over-excited much?  Probably.

Other than that, reason two is probably left confined in my memories.  We’ll just say it was awesome and deserves a great huge SQUEEEEEE!!!!!  ^_^

Alas, now I am off to play with cat toys, and study for my bookkeeping test tomorrow afternoon.

It takes all kinds

May 5, 2009 at 2:01 pm (Uncategorized)

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not the most conventional person that ever lived.  Also, you know that sometimes I can take a lot of abuse from people.  However, there are some people who just get under my skin.

I have discovered a new person to add to this list.  Unfortunately for my sanity, I am stuck with this person more often than not for the next five months.  This won’t damage me at all, but will be doing a lot of any number of the following four things.  One, walking.  Long, long, steam-blowing-off walks.  Two, knitting.  In hopes it will Zen me out.  Three, bitching.  I already know there will be a lot of this.  Four, buying a soccer ball and finding a nice cement or brick wall to kick it at.  Ah yes, I think a soccer ball might just be in order.

Onto the real topic.  I have a hard time dealing with close-minded and hypocritical people.  They drive me up the wall.  You would also do well making a mental note to never, ever attack anything, or anyone, I care for because I will fight to the death to defend it.

So, these close-minded people.  One, I don’t understand how one can be so.  This world we live in is too diverse and beautiful, even the ugliness has some beauty in it, to be so closed to it all.  The diversity is incredible!  Especially here in Canada.  People of all race, religion and creed can be seen in a simple walk down the street.  I pride myself in being from this country where we are so lucky to be able to have regular contact with such difference.  I strive to be different myself.  Why not?  If you can, do it.  What’s the fun in being like everyone else?  I don’t know.

Someone I have had to, allbeit unwillingly, accept into my sphere spent the better part of this morning attacking everything she could get her claws into.  First it was liberal and unconventional ideas, beliefs and ideals.  Okay, well right there that’s enough to get my back up.  It’s never right to attack anything, but even less right when your “information” is incorrect.  If you plan to argue, attack, debate, whatever, anything, you should at least begin by doing some research and making sure that what you have equipped your mouth with is accurate.

From there, this person’s venom turned to a indiginous form of punishment and rehabilitation.  And of course, from there to race issues.  And not the blatant attrocities commited against Aboriginal people by our country in the past, but how “we” (white people) have, and are on a continual basis, discriminated against on a daily basis by “them.”  Those were this person’s words, we and them, not mine.  Since these past events of our country, the government has since appologized and attempted to begin to make amends for their past actions.  Great.  Unfortunately this person disagrees with what the government has been doing.  Where does this person go after this?  To how Jewish people are still using the Holocaust as an excuse.  This was the point I left the room because I honestly felt sick.

It’s not often that I get to the point in an intelligent discussion that I have to leave.  However, this was not an intelligent conversation.  It was disgusting.  There’s no other way to put it.  I am honestly disgusted by this person and saddened that there are actually people in this world that are capable of thinking this way.  I shall now go to school every day to see what this person will rant about next and bide my time for the perfect opportunity to put this person in their place.  Perhaps it will give me a reason to want to go to class everyday.  Waiting for the perfect time and place to put them in theirs.  Excellent.

It’s going to be a long, long five months.

Return to the Blogosphere!

May 5, 2009 at 1:15 pm (Uncategorized)

Well, I have moved.  WordPress is much prettier than my old blog, so I shall now be available here.  I also plan to update much more frequently than I had been previously.  Which translates into the simple fact that I actually will update.

That’s about it for the Welcome Back first post, I plan to rant in a couple minutes when I get all this figured out.

See you soon.  LP
